The Ohio Forestry Association recognized outstanding leadership in forestry education during its 2026 Annual Meeting by presenting the 2025 Walt Lange Conservation Education Award to Dave Parrott.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky with both bachelor's and master's degrees in forestry, Parrott has dedicated his career to advancing forestry education and outreach across Ohio.

Today, as communications manager for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry, Parrott plays a key role in connecting Ohioans with the state's forest resources. He produces a wide range of educational YouTube videos, oversees communications initiatives and supports numerous outreach projects completed by the Division of Forestry each year.

In addition to his communications responsibilities, Parrott coordinates the Division of Forestry's presence at the Ohio State Fair, serves as editor of the Ohio Woodland Journal, and contributes to numerous educational and conservation initiatives that promote sustainable forest management throughout the Buckeye State.

The Walt Lange Conservation Education Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to forestry education and conservation awareness. Through his dedication to public outreach, professional communications and natural resource education, Parrott has helped expand his understanding of Ohio's forests while supporting landowners, forestry professionals and the public alike.

The Ohio Forestry Association congratulates Dave Parrott on this well-deserved recognition and thanks him for his continued commitment to forestry education and conservation in Ohio.
