Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation Expands Habitat Restoration Efforts With Fecon Partnership

Advanced land management equipment helps foundation improve forests and wildlife habitat as it marks 30 years of conservation.

Healthy wildlife habitat doesn't happen by accident. It requires active land management, long-term planning and the right tools. That's why Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation is partnering with Fecon, a manufacturer of vegetation management and forestry equipment, to support habitat restoration and forest management projects across the foundation's conservation properties.

As the foundation celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026, the partnership will help accelerate projects designed to improve wildlife habitat through invasive species removal, forest stand improvement, early successional habitat creation and responsible stewardship practices, according to Fecon. These activities will be done using Fecon's forestry mulchers, specialized land management machines that clear brush, trees and invasive vegetation by grinding it into nutrient-rich mulch that remains on the ground.

The foundation has spent three decades demonstrating how active land management benefits wildlife, water quality and future generations of outdoor enthusiasts. Its conservation efforts also serve as educational opportunities for youth, veterans and landowners interested in responsible stewardship, added the company.

Available in deck, disc and drum configurations, Fecon's forestry mulchers can quickly remove dense undergrowth, process standing timber or tackle a wide range of vegetation while leaving behind a natural mulch layer that helps reduce erosion, improve soil health and prepare land for healthier wildlife habitat and forest regeneration, according to Fecon. This equipment allows the foundation to complete projects more efficiently while minimizing disturbance to surrounding habitat, Fecon further stated.
