Tigercat Releases Harvesting Head for Wheel Carriers →

As a part of Tigercat's overall strategy to provide end-to-end CTL harvesting systems, the company has released the new 534 harvesting head. With a base weight starting from 3,040 lb., the 534 is matched to Tigercat's 1165 harvester and sized for optimal productivity in a 6 to 20 in. stem diameter range. The 534 is a three-wheel drive head with a triangulated wheel arm design. Do we need more horsepower for a forage harvester? The John Deere 9900i, a 956-hp behemoth, is the largest model of self-propelled forage harvesters it offers. But more horsepower for a forage harvester? That remains a question, writes Chris Torres in the American Agriculturist. Enhancements have been made to the previously released smooth boom control (SBC), as well as improved seat and heated-ventilated seat (HVS) and premium radio that is XM ready. John Deere's new, small-size H423 harvester head and the large-size H425 and H425HD replace the previous H413, H415 and H415HD models. Like its predecessor, these heads have 4WD feed. The H423 harvester head works on the 1070G, 1170G and 1270G wheeled harvester base machines and is ideal for thinnings and other fellings, where the tree diameter at chest height (BHD) is 150 to 350 mm.
